Araxy Components GmbH was founded in 2026 by two friends, Kristian Scheib-Hovland and Michi Albisser. They both live in Switzerland, are 20 and 22 years old, and spend most of their free time on the trails.
The idea originated during a trip to Europe’s biggest bike parks, when a mechanical failure forced Kristian to ride without a chain for almost a week. What felt like a setback turned into a revelation — his bike suddenly felt smoother, faster, and more alive than ever.
Back home, he was determined to understand why. He tested various pedal-kickback devices and even went as far as riding a custom-made idler system in an attempt to recreate the chainless feeling he had experienced on that trip. But nothing seemed to work as he had hoped. One afternoon, while working on his bike, he pulled on the chain and watched the cranks move noticeably. In that moment, he realized that the movement of the chain was causing the harshness felt through the cranks and holding back the suspension.
From there, the real work began. Together with Michi, months of testing, riding, refining, and building countless prototypes eventually led to a design that transformed the way their own bikes rode. As friends and other riders tried the setup and felt the difference themselves, the idea evolved from a personal project into Araxy Components: a rider-owned company dedicated to giving every mountain biker access to the full potential of their bikes.
The name Araxy Components was inspired by the Greek philosophical concept of ataraxie, which the Stoics used to describe calmness, tranquillity, and the ability to maintain inner stability despite external chaos. Because this is exactly what their products are designed to do, Kristian and Michi drew inspiration from this philosophy and came up with the name Araxy Components.
